Anthony (“Tony”) Weigel is the principal of Weigel Law Office, LLC in the Kansas City, Missouri area. His practice focuses on the areas of business immigration sponsorship and employer compliance.
Tony's experience includes work in human resources coordinating and managing temporary and permanent visa sponsorship matters; completion and retention of I-9, employment verification forms; and supporting human resources functions ranging from recruitment, promotion and retention, and termination of employment.
Since 2004, his law practice has focused exclusively on business immigration sponsorship and compliance. He has represented sponsorship clients in the following industries: information technology, engineering, financial services, healthcare, education, telecommunications, research and defense. Tony has advised and represented compliance clients in a variety of industries, to include construction, retail, service and manufacturing industries.
His background and practical experience have helped him effectively guide employers and individuals through today’s business immigration law challenges and to effectively leverage an organization’s internal resources.
Tony is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and has dedicated a significant amount of time to the organization’s local and national efforts. He served on the Executive Committee of the Missouri/Kansas Chapter of AILA for four years, to include serving as Chapter Chair. He has served on four national AILA committees: Verification & Worksite Enforcement Liaison, Nebraska Service Center Liaison, Media & Advocacy, and Board of Publications. In 2011, he received the association’s Advocacy Award for outstanding efforts in support of AILA’s legislative agenda.
He was recognized in 2013 by Super Lawyers as a 'Rising Star' in Missouri and Kansas in the immigration practice area. He has been included on the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 lists of The International Who's Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers.
He serves as a member of the Legal Advisory Committee to the employer advocacy organization, Immigration Works USA, and provides legal counsel on a variety of immigration-related issues affecting employers of agricultural and lesser-skilled workers.
Tony also supports student entrepreneurs as a Mentor Program Volunteer to the Entrepreneurship Scholars Program of the UMKC Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
He has numerous publications and has presented on business immigration topics throughout the Midwest and nationally.
